Common Raven
I used Procreate to paint my common raven, but gave it slight undertones of red to appeal towards a darker aesthetic. I also strayed from a normal landscape with a clear sky, and made the sky a faint red that is overcasting the landscape.
The bird is posed against the landscape, with it’s beak and eyes looking out. The landscape works in its favor to make the raven more bold, and stand out. He is also placed in a way where his head carries the most detail. I aimed for the piece to feel mysterious and alarming. I painted in greyscale and added my colors at the end for cohesive values.
